Shilonda Trail Photowalk

During monsoons, a walk along the Shilonda Trail in the Sanjay Gandhi National Park is a must-do. The rain washes off the dust and dirt from the trees and the sight of them and the undergrowth – bright and in various hues of green in the backdrop of an overcast sky is a delight. Also the puddles and streams of sparkling fresh water cutting across the trail make the trek worth the while.

The forest is active and all charged up with the sounds of birds and insects. The occasional drizzle adds to the magic. The trail finally ends near a river, beyond which the core forest zone begins. Visitors are not permitted to go beyond this point.

During my trek through the trail, the focus of my shoot was the wide variety of insects among the shrubs and bushes. It wasn’t easy though, getting down on all fours for a good shot.
